LOS 40 Principales is a Spanish radio network that features contemporary Pop, Pop-rock, and some House music. Founded in 1966 as a radio program for Radio Madrid, Los 40 Principales has evolved into a popular radio station in Spain and Latin America. Los 40 is a part of the Spanish media conglomerate Prisa Radio. It has more than 50 million listeners worldwide, with 29 million in Spain alone.Los 40 Principales has grown from a program on Radio Madrid to a radio station that broadcasts to ten countries. It started out as a weekly Top 40 list, but later expanded into more popular music. Los 40 Principales has also been known to air concerts and social events. It was also one of the first radio networks to feature a music awards show.
